About a month ago our instructor told that some of the dancers in our rookies group have a chance to participate in the song and dance festival Gaudeamus XVI in Vilnius. It took me a bit time to consider it but around two weeks ago I decided to go. At first it seemed it was too late as all the places seemed to be full but I still started going to practices and it kind of paid off as my old dancing partners new dancing partner had an accident and broke his leg - so I had to replace him. I was happy and sad (sappy) at the same time - I felt bad for my friend because of his accident and happy to be able to dance again with my old dancing partner. It was also sad that last week it turned out that the other couple, that enlisted before me to go to the festival, couldn't go after all.
These pictures are taken on the practice day in the Huge Treffner Gymnasium with my Zenit-ET (I used Kodak Pro bw400cn film). Unfortunately the camera doesn't work well in low light conditions as the indicator doesn't move also I am yet not experienced enough to set the parameters by myself. So from the 36 pictures only 20 were ok. As I couldn't make pictures while I was dancing, I made these on the moments when we rested. The guys in our group aren't very good at resting so they started doing push-ups and crunches, after that also did some massage to the girls.
Beside the dancers from Tarbatu (my companions) also the Tartu University group and the Viljandi Culture Academy group were on that practice. So I'm one of the few people who knows almost everybody as I used to dance in TU-s group and my brother and his girlfriend are dancing in VCA group. Still I am afraid that this year my birthday won't be much of a party as it's on the 25th and the festival is from 23d to 27th and except for my brother, his gf and some other guys there aren't many close friends there with me.
